Vintage 8x10 in. U.S. single-weight glossy restrike photograph (not a vintage original photograph printed at the time it was taken but which was printed from the original negative at a later time) from the classic silent film horror drama/romance, THE UNKNOWN, released in 1927 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and directed by Tod Browning. A criminal on the run (Lon Chaney) hides in a circus and seeks to possess the beautiful daughter (Joan Crawford) of the ringmaster at any cost.

The image features a close shot of the beautiful circus performer Nanon (Joan Crawford) as she gazes sadly into the face of her fellow performer, Alonzo (Lon Chaney), an armless knife-thrower, as he looks at her. Printed during the 1960's or possibly earlier, this vintage restrike photograph was printed from the original negative, so it features extremely sharp detail and nice contrast. It is in fine- condition with some very light vertical dashed-shaped marks in the bottom right quadrant that occurred during the printing process (and which are visible primarily when viewing the photo at an angle). The image quality is very sharp with fine detail and great contrast.
