This is a laserdisc edition of the early sound film version of William Shakespeare's comedy, THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, released in 1929 by United Artists and directed by Sam Taylor. This was the first and only time that husband-and-wife superstars Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford appear together in a feature-length motion picture. The film has a run-time of 93 minutes.
Also included on this laserdisc is a great documentary entitled THE BIRTH OF A LEGEND (1966), produced and directed by former silent film actor Matty Kemp with narration written by Leslie Gargan. It features Pickford and Fairbanks along with Doug's best friend, Charlie Chaplin. It features a run-time of 26 minutes.
This laserdisc edition was released by Image Entertainment performed. The laserdisc itself in in very fine+ condition and plays perfectly without any issues. The outer cardboard sleeve is in fine+ condition with a light vertical crease along the left edge of the front cover only and which did not affect the laserdisc itself.
