More contemporary 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph (not a vintage original photo) from the classic silent film drama, WAY DOWN EAST, released in 1920 by United Artists and directed by D.W. Griffith. Based upon the famous play by Lottie Blair Parker, a  naive country girl (Lillian Gish) is tricked into a sham marriage by a wealthy womanizer (Lowell Sherman), then must rebuild her life despite the taint of having borne a child out of wedlock.

The image features a posed on-set production shot of the film's director, D.W. Griffith, giving instruction to Richard Barthelmess while he holds the wrist of actress Martha Mattox while Lillian Gish, Burr McIntosh, and Lowell Sherman listen. Printed most likely in the 1980's, it is in very fine+ condition without any visible flaws. The image quality is very sharp with fine detail and nice contrast.
