This is a 2-Disc LaserDisc Edition of the classic 1920's silent film fantasy adventure romance, THE THIEF OF BAGDAD, released in 1924 by United Artists and directed by Raoul Walsh. A thief (Douglas Fairbanks) falls in love with the Caliph (Brandon Hurst) of Bagdad's daughter (Julanne Johnston). The Caliph will give her hand to the suitor that brings back the rarest treasure after seven moons. The thief sets off on a magical journey while, unbeknownst to him, another suitor, the Prince of the Mongols (SĂ´jin Kamiyama), is not playing by the rules... The cast includes Snitz Edwards, Charles Belcher, Anna May Wong, Tote Du Crow, and Noble Johnson.
The Thief of Bagdad is considered to be the greatest of Douglas Fairbanks' silent films and is still able to amaze today. This LaserDisc edition, distributed by Image Entertainment, features a specially tinted print from the (Raymond) Rohauer Collection, introduced by Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and includes a new score by Carl Davis, based on the themes of Rimsky-Korsakov. This video presentation was produced by David Gill and Kevin Brownlow in association with Thames Television.
Both laserdiscs are in perfect condition and play without any issues. The outer cardboard sleeve is in very fine condition with random signs of light wear along various portion of the edges.
