Title: Saint Gertrude
Authors: Bob and Penny Lord
Publisher: Journeys of Faith
Format: Printed minibook

Saint Gertrude the Great is well known in Europe and especially in Helfta, Germany where
the Abbey is located. She lived in the 13th century and had a geat devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Like Saint Teresa she received the Transverberation of the Heart. She was devoted to praying for the Poor Souls in Purgatory and composed a special prayer for them. Saint Mathilda was the first Queen of Germany and married to the First Emperor of Germany, known as Henry the Fowler. She lived in Quedlingburg Castle and was extremely generous with the finances and wealth of the Empire. We trace her life in the Castle and the struggles she overcame after the death of her beloved husband Henry.
