Hello, Thank you for visiting!
This is Chris Mathein. I have always been the curious and creative type, I was always the child who was disassembling everything in the house to see how they were made, even when my mom didn't like having the radio in 40 pieces (sorry mom!). Since then I started getting into photography somewhat seriously around 2003, That is when I had a great experience, when I was walking my neighbors dogs and saw a mother fox duck into her den. I returned home dropped off the dogs and grabbed my camera. I spent an hour waiting quietly. I was rewarded with my patience when the mother fox went out and soon after the young foxes came out curious at the strange creature with a glass eye. I was able to watch the mother come back and feed her young, and I was trusted enough that the mother would come out with her young and play. I even was able to get a picture of the mother giving one of the young a stick to play with. since those days I was truly hooked. I began photographing everything from muskrats to eagles.
In addition to my photography I found silversmithing and in quite an interesting way. Simply put in high school I had a study hall but being one who doesn't like to just sit around I asked the guidance counselor what classes were available for the time slot? The only opening was a jewelry class, I took that class and found something much more enjoyable than I had initially imagined, learning how to solder, cut, bend, chase silver into pieces of art. After high school I continued creating jewelry at home as well I got a job at the little silver shop where I could continue making people happy with great designs.
I still seek out new paths to learn and create, taking online classes for everything from cataract surgery, nuclear science and plant biology. Which brings me here where I can bring to you my creations, as well as some additional goods that I sell.
