I am struggling with shipping. When I weight and measure my items and go to Canada Post to see how much it will cost to ship them the rates are huge. In the meantime I see some of you with shipping costs so low I cann’t figure out what I am doing wrong.
Can someone help me with that?
Thank you for all your great support.

Shipping from Canada…..Well I do it hundreds of times a month. Using Canada Post.
There are several ways to save money on shipping.
One make sure you have a venture account.
Two where possible if you are shipping to the US use Small packet. Almost as fast as air and a lot cheaper. SOme items go letter mail even cheaper.
Use the paypal site for that extra 25% off if you need tracking.
You will find shipping to the states is fairly good prices but it will cost you more to ship within Canada as we do not have a small packet rate yet.
You can also save if you have a standard item you sell by pre bouying Expedited Envelopes. You get a double savings that way 25% as a Venture member and an additional 20% in volume discount.

Do they have Flat Rate envelopes or boxes in Canada? That’s how we ship to Canada from the states. If not, you will have to ship first class. That would be your cheapest option.

Thanks for sharing the info canacreations. I have a hard time determining shipping costs too and you provided info I didn’t know about. There is so much to learn about selling online. – I don’t think I’ll ever learn it all. :-)

Not sure about shipping from Canada, but we went to our PO yesterday to mail a small package to Canada (we’re in the US)—our first time to ever send anything to Canada. I was surprised that for 1st class it was under $5. I said, just out of curiosity, how much would it be for Priority, and almost fainted when she said $20 (and change). We sent it 1st class, and just hoping that it doesn’t take forever to get to its destination.

Yes, Shipping from Canada is high but what Canacreations is saying is so helpful. I struggled and tried to see how to ship at lower rates from Canada but finally got it.
However, must tell you that Canada Post does not have the service that USPS has where you can pay a small amount and get tracking on small packets etc. Neither does Canada Post offer Flat Rate boxes as does USPS “If it fits it ships” so that is a disappointment.
Buying expidited envelopes is somthing new I have learned – Thank You Canacreations!

I ship alot to Canada from US and as long as it stays below 4 pounds the rates stay nice and low over 4 pounds gotta go priority mail and gets pricey!

The rates to Canada are not bad. Like mypiy says as long as the weight is under 4 pound you should be fine. Make use you say First Class International.
