Why are my images being uploaded sideways?

I am trying to add an image to "featured catagory'. every time I upload a picture the position of my original image changes ( from vertical to sideways). How do I correct this as there doesnt seem to be an option for position

Going through their samples of fees layout - i do not understand You sell a $2 item. Although $2 x 3.5% = $0.07 you still owe $0.50 as that is the minimum on any item. why would they charge .50 per item sold when it does not belong to them? ...
