Item description
Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic 1930's boxing-themed comedy romance, THE KID FROM KOKOMO, released in 1939 by First National Pictures and directed by Lewis Seiler. A fight promoter finds his fighter, Wayne Morris, in the sticks, a country hick left by his mother when he was young and he won't leave his home as he is still waiting for her to return to him. Promoter, Pat O'Brien cons him into coming with him by telling him the exposure in the papers will help him find her. O'Brien later hires an old drunk woman (May Robson) to play the part of "mom". The cast includes at Joan Blondell, Jane Wyman, Stanley Fields, Maxie Rosenbloom, Sidney Toler, Edward Brophy, and Winifred Harris.
The image features an interior scene inside of a stable and depicts boxer/pugilist Homer Baston (Wayne Morris) signing a document on the back of Eddie Black (Edward Brophy) that is held by Doris Harvey (Joan Blondell) as William "Billy" Jennings (Pat O'Brien) witnesses the signing. It is in fine- condition with a 2 in. horizontal crease with signs of wear in the top left corner and light signs of wear on the other three corners. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, writing, or other flaws.
