Item description
Vintage original 23.5 x 33 in. German poster from the classic 1950's circus-themed drama, THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH, released in 1952 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Cecil B. DeMille. The dramatic lives of trapeze artists, a clown, and an elephant trainer are told against a background of circus spectacle. The cast includes Betty Hutton, Cornel Wilde, Charlton Heston, Dorothy Lamour, Gloria Grahame, and James Stewart.
This poster was printed for the film's original theatrical release in German and the design is much more striking than the US one-sheet; it features both black-and-white photographic images of the main characters as well as beautiful artwork of James Stewart and Charlton as designed by Peltzer. Unrestored and folded as originally issued, it is in very fine- condition with light signs of wear along the edge of the top left panel; a small crease on the bottom right corner; and an additional vertical foldline. The rich color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
