ABOUT THIS ISSUE:
When The Post decided to assign an article about American tourism,
following the advice of President Johnson to "see America first," the
writer naturally chosen for the task was ANNE CHAMBERLIN. In just
two years on the staff, Anne has traveled more miles than she can
count. Her first article described a cross-country flight in an old Ford
trimotor (Aug. 10-17, 1963). Subsequently she has reported on Caribbean vacation spots (March 14, 1964); a visit to the temple of
Abu Simbel, which is being threatened by the damming of the Nile
(June 6,1964); and the perils of traveling on Russia's national airline ~'inne amoerun
(Nov. 28. 1964). The cover by JOHN LAUNOIS shows tourists getting a close-up of Niagara.
