An historical novel, set in colonial Virginia, featuring an outspoken young woman, who involves herself in a plot to set free enslaved Puritans, becomes a prisoner herself, and helps fend off a Ricahecrian Indian attack. Johnston, a significant suffragette advocate, and spokeswoman and writer for women's rights, wrote many highly acclaimed historical novels, three of which were adapted to film. An attractive copy in fresh condition.
