A film director writing his first novel, an ambitious housewife and her husband who become fugitives traveling from Monte Carlo to Italy with a surprise body in their car, a bishop, and local bandits, are featured in this suspenseful, adventure mystery spiced with humor and satire.
Leslie S. Hiscott was a prolific British film director and screenwriter, most well-known for his mystery films including 'Alibi', the 1931 debut of Christie's Hercule Poirot, and his 1930s Sherlock Holmes movies.
Lower front corner tip bumped, lower shelf edges slightly rubbed, else about near fine in red linen with white embossed titles and and decorative rules to the spine; in a very good Stein illustrated dust jacket with age-toning and dust-soiling to the spine panel and rear panel, nicks to the upper and lower spine edges and corner tips, and a half-inch tear to the lower end of the rear flap fold; original printed 15/- net price still intact to the front inner flap.
