McLoughlin Brothers 1908 Print on Glass " Charms of Nature" # 56? and "Copyright 1902 by McLoughlin Bros., N.Y." Glass is attached to a cardboard. They were a publishing company in New York from 1828 - 1920. Glass prints were popular from the late seventeenth century to the early nineteenth century. They were produced by first adhering a mezzotint print face down to a sheet of glass with varnish. The mezzotint, meaning ?halftone? in Italian (m e z z atinta), was first created in the seventeenth century as a new printing technique.
