Product Description
Salina was a girl of nine summers when the Messenger came ashore in the Land of Lasciviousness. She can remember peace time, before the persecution began--soon after the Messenger set sail for other lands. She often longs of the comforts of home as she knew it when she was small but she would not go back. Now that the Messenger has opened her eyes to see the monster that she and her people had served in their blindness, she would rather die than go back. And die, she may, if she takes the risk that she is considering. Coming of age in a restricted country will be a test of Salina's courage and her faith.
About the Author
Born in Newport Arkansas, Linda Settles spent the first five years of her life in a three-room house across the road from a cotton patch. The family had all the necessary commodities, an outhouse, chickens and a dilapidated Ford. Linda was the oldest daughter and her brother, Eddie (eleven months older) was her best friend and protector. When Eddie died at the age of nine, Linda suddenly became the eldest in a family that grew until there were six children.
Linda always loved writing. As a teenager she wrote poetry which was often published in Latchstrings, a newspaper in North Little Rock. She wrote a poem that was featured in the real estate section of the Arkansas Democrat and wrote poetry that was used by Dr. Wayne McFarland in his campaign to help addicted smokers overcome their habit.
Linda was asked to speak on several occasions and thought her career would soon take off as a writer and public speaker. Life events took Linda in a different direction--and many years passed before she had the opportunity to resume writing and speaking again. She is now a full time writer who lives in Virginia with her husband and two daughters.
