Immaculate Heart ? Old Fashioned ? Einsiedeln ? 3 sizes ? Based on Vintage Holy Card ? Catholic Art Print ? Catholic Gift
Immaculate Heart - EinsiedelnBased on an Antique Holy CardThis sweet, old-fashioned Immaculate Heart is a mixture of two technologies they had for making holy cards in the mid-1800s. For the frame it uses the engraving style, popular in the early decades of that century. Combined with that is the use of lithograph for the beautiful, colored Immaculate Heart in the center. Lithographs were the cutting-edge technology of the time, providing lovely, full-colored, ink-rich holy cards for people in large production runs. We think this print is a perfect little image to enhance a nook or cranny. It looks adorable in the 5x7 size. This card was as a souvenir for pilgrims to Einsiedeln, one of the great Catholic pilgrimage destinations of Europe. Although not as famous today because of Fatima, Lourdes, and Lisieux, Einsiedeln still draws hundreds of thousands of people every year to the Our Lady Chapel at the large Benedictine Abbey. The abbey has been a popular pilgrimage site for a thousand years. The publisher was Gebr. C. N. Benziger, who started making holy cards in Einsiedeln in 1792. C. N. were the sons, Charles and Nicholas, who got their father into the new lithograph technology. The company is still in business today as RCL Benziger. (source: rclbenziger.com)** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt. - Acid-free paper- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.- Cardboard backer- Above story of the art- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
