HOME MUTUAL The Home Mutual Fire and Marine Insurance Company of Saint Louis was chartered in 1846, one of the first insurance companies in the state of Missouri. Their original fire mark was oblong shaped measuring 6.875" X 5.0" and was made of zinc. It had a border around it with two clasped hands in the center along with the words Home Mutual. There were mounting holes at all four corners. The mark/plaque in the listing is black in color with the border, clasp hand in hand symbol and lettering in gold from Heritage Metalcraft. It is of metal (non ferrous) construction and measures approximately 9.375" x 6.875" with a single mounting hole. It is in good condition with some signs of paint loss/chipping. The black ones are rarer as they are usually seen in green.
