The scientific name of the guinea hen weed is Petiveria alliacea. The plant is indigenous to the Caribbean, the Amazon rainforest, Central and South America, and Africa. It also goes by other names, including tipi, mucura, apacin, guinea, and anamu.
Guinea Hen Weed's leaves ? and especially its roots ? are known for their strong garlic-like odor, which comes from the shrub's chemical components, mainly sulfur compounds.
