Item description
THE FATE OF MAN
H. G. Wells
New York: Alliance Book Corporation,
1939. 263 pages.
Original publisher?s gray cloth boards stamped in black. Dust jacket.
Very good plus copy with firm unbroken inner hinges. Front free endpaper with small ownership label of a former H. G. Wells collector. Interior pages clean and tight. Original price-clipped dust jacket with some closed tears (expertly closed by a conservationist) with minor spine fading and end chipping. The dust jacket is enclosed in a Mylar protector.
H. G. Wells has boldly signed his name on the title page with extra flourish, the best H. G. Wells signature we have seen in any signed Wells book. ?The Fate of Man? is arguably H. G. Wells? best reasoned and articulate book on a varied spectrum of subjects affecting mankind and civilization. Take a look at the topics he addresses. We?ve posted photos of the contents pages with this listing. Only a broad mind such as Wells could have written this book- did he have a ?Time Machine?? I think his intuitive brain was-remember he predicted tbe atomic bomb in his 1914 book ?The World Set Free.? In this 1939 book, his astute analysis of subjects are very prophetic to the times we now live in that are affecting the human species. Perhaps not many copies were signed by him but given the flourish in his signature it?s clear he was pleased with book.
This book is an under-rated forgotten
work. It?s time to resurrect ?The Fate of Man? to its proper status. H. G. Wells held this book in his hands, breathed on it, signed his name in it.
First American Edition signed by H. G. Wells.
This book will sent boxed and insured.
