BORDER PATROL. With the U.S. Immigration Service On THe Mexican Boundary 1910-54. By Clifford Alan Perkins. Assisted by Nancy Dickey. Ediwth with an Introduction by C.L. Sonnichsen. Clifford Alan Perkins was only 19 years old when he left his native Wisconsin in 1908 to move to El Paso where he became a postoffice employee. On January 4, 1911, he joined the U.S. Immigration Service at Tucson; later he was transferred to Doughlas, Arizona and in 1913 to El Paso where he was selected to head the Immigration Border Patrol when it was formed in 1924. In 1926, he was transferred to San Antonio to head the Patrol in that district. Finally, he went to San Ysidro, Calif. as Office in Charge of the port of entry, a position he held until his retirement in 1953. He resided in Chula Vista, California at his death in 1977. This copy is autographed by Nancy Dicken in December 1978. Black White clear photos. Hardbound bound measures 9-1/4" x 6-1/4" x 5/8" thick. Never read condition. Tight binding. 127 pages + index. Dust jacket has some chips on edges showing signs of age from storage. Included is a 1966 color photograph of Margaret Perkins, Cliff Perkins with Gordon Alice Seribner (?).
