Item description
20 Seeds Goldenmane Coreopsis Coreopsis Basalis
Coreopsis basalis is a wonderful annual with bright yellow, daisy-like flowers accented with maroon centers. It blooms from spring to fall. It is a bushy annual plant that produces numerous, small, linear leaves and a profusion of yellow flowers having reddish brown centers. This Southern native annual forms compact plants, about 1 foot high, with deeply cut leaves. The golden flowers with dark centers cover the plants in the spring, summer and fall. Coreopsis basalis is a very attractive annual coreopsis that will become very popular for flower beds and butterfly gardens. It grows wild in prairies, plains, meadows, pastures, and savannahs. It is an attractive annual wildflower and can be planted over most of the US. The lightly fragrant flowers attract butterflies. Like other coreopsis species, it enjoys full sun and well-drained soil. Easy to grow. Drought-tolerant. Deer resistant. Also known as Golden Wave, Goldmane or Goldenmane Tickseed. Plants grow best in sandy loam soils that are well draining, in full sun.
Growing Instructions
1. The seeds like moist, well-drained soil. Prepare a mixture of half potting soil and half sand, perlite or vermiculite. Put the soil in a pot. Water the mixture so that it is moist but not wet.
2. Put the seeds on the soil.
3. Water the seeds. The seeds germinate in 5 to 20 days.
4. Place the pots in an area with warm temperatures in full sun or part shade.
5. When the seedlings are a few inches tall, they can be transplanted.
