It's a necessary part. The vacuum won't run safely without it. This inexpensive component turned my Electrolux Super J from a pile of spare parts to the powerful house cleaning machine it's supposed to be. Installation was simple and straightforward. It took about five minutes to install the part with no instructions. All it takes is a screwdriver and observing how the old switch is installed and connected before removing it. The most difficult thing about the whole process was actually finding the part, since it appears to have been discontinued by Electrolux, along with many other replacement parts for their older metal canister vacuums.
