In 2004, SMARTY JONES attempted to become the first Triple Crown winner in over 25 years. As amazing as that feat would have been, the real miracle is that he was ever able to step foot on a racetrack. In his short life, he has been associated with more tragedy than most humans. He was born in the midst of a mysterious epidemic, his first trainer was murdered, his owner was diagnosed with a terminal illness and he had a freak accident that almost ended his life. Against all odds, the little colt from Philly persevered and ran his way into the hearts of the horse racing community.
A very obscure documentary of AMERICA'S HORSE...SMARTY JONES...the remarkable colt whose inspirational 2004 bid for the Triple Crown made him a national hero!
