Item description
CORNER OF THE MOON
by Shirley Barker
New York: Crown Publishers, Inc., (1961).
First edition, first printing.
Dust jacket art by John Alan Maxwell.
An historical novel set in the moors of Kent during Napoleon's planned invasion through a fleet of ships. A young bride whose husband is mostly away doing defense duties, hears of witches on the moors voicing incantations against Napoleon, and is herself suspected of being a witch.
Barker was a highly acclaimed poet and historical fiction author most famous for her novel PEACE MY DAUGHTERS depicting the Salem Witch Trials that she believed her ancestors attended.
Upper corner tips lightly bumped, else nearly fine in yellow linen over blue-gray wavy-striped boards with black titles to the spine; in a near fine dust jacket with slight age-toning to the spine panel that shows a minute surface snag, and with a few tiny edge-tears to the rear panel; original printed $4.00 price still intact to the front inner flap.
