After killing off the main character in his series of acclaimed mysteries, novelist Richard Castle isn’t sure what to do next. In the throes of writer’s block, he is contacted by the NYPD. They are trying to solve a crime that looks like a crime committed in one of his books. Through his connection with the police department, Castle meets real-life detective Kate Beckett. She is not happy at first that he wants to follow her around to gain insight into detecting and get ideas for his next novel, but the two of them end up intrigued by each other. Their relationship grows, especially as Kate begins to realize that Castle’s insights and ideas can sometimes aid her in her actual investigations.
