Item description
Vintage original 3.25 x 5 in. US "coming attraction" glass slide from the 1920's WWI-themed silent film drama, THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER, released in 1926 by Producers Distributing Corporation and directed by Renaud Hoffman. A small town mill worker leaves his sweetheart behind as he enlists for the Great War. Later he finds her overseas dancing for his fellow soldiers and she reveals to him she is now pregnant.
The image features a color-tinted photographic shot of WWI soldier Charles Emmett Mack and Marguerite De La Motte beneath a tree during a more tranquil moment from the film. It is in very fine- condition as shown.
Written by Richard Schayer and James J. Tynan, the cast includes Charles Emmett Mack, Marguerite De La Motte, Henry B. Walthall, Claire McDowell, and George Cooper and was released on May 30, 1926 by Producers Distributing Corporation. The Jan. 17, 1926 Film Daily reported that Renaud Hoffman would "take his entire company East" for six weeks to film sequences in New York City.
