Item description
(Internal #PP515-62) This is a genuine FOSSIL CROCODILE COPROLITE (poop) specimen from the area of the Painted Forest, NE Arizona, Chinle Formation (Triassic era, 220 million years old). Specimen weights between 3 and 3.4 pounds.
How do we know what it is? First, by viewing modern Crocodile scat that has a distinct shape and texture. Also, fossil specimens are examined for dung beetle tracks and animal remains.
Crocodile Phytosaur skeletons, egg nests footprints have been found in this formation and in the nearby Petrified Wood State Park.
Not recommended for cutting material, specimens only
Great "gag" gift or teaching tool for teachers in history class! The gemstone material that replaces the dung over the millions of years makes these specimens attractive to be sliced and made into jewelry. Honest! Comes with information card. We only handle the real stuff, folks!
