During WWII this was used to transport effects, ammo, and general purpose items such as magazines, entrenching tools, S-4 items, During the Korean War this was used to transport Ammo, Magazines, C-rations, Individual First Aid Kits, depending on the branch : During the Vietnam War these were used to transport payroll ( cash ) they would put cash in the bags and have a convoy to each base and pay soldiers, these bags are heavy canvas with a adjustable strap on the top, very close to a duffel bag system : great Collectors Item. I looked in the archives and there was another made before this for the Korean War but was soon modified for the boys going to Vietnam. I have 2 types, one in the original wrapping and of course the surplus version out of the wrapper : please know the wrapped version is being held by some black tar glue : its very messy if your not careful .
