Item description
SAD SONG OF THE COYOTE
by Mel Ellis
New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, (1967).
First edition, first printing.
"First edition" statement to the copyright page.
Ellis, editor of Field and Stream magazine, outdoor columnist for The Milwaukee Journal, and nature observation columnist for the Wisconsin sportsman, was also a prolific young adult author, three titles of which were adapted to Disney films.
This outdoor wilderness adventure features a young man who changes his mind about trapping wild animals to make money for college, after following the trail of a wounded coyote.
A hint of age-toning to the spine, else very nearly fine in blue-threaded cream boards with deep-blue embossed titles to the front cover and to the spine, red end-papers, blue-and-white headband and tail-band; in a nearly fine dust jacket with wrap-around art by Gil Walker, with a half-inch tear to the upper edge of the front panel and just a hint of age-toning to the lower spine panel; original printed $2.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
Octavo; 127 pages; plus 'About the Author' page.
