Paul Fuhrmann (1893-1952) - Signed Black and White Etchings - Lot of 3 -2 Etchings by Paul Fuhrmann - Other etching artist unknown Type: Etching Paul Fuhrmann (born 1893 in Spandau, deceased 1952 in Berlin) was a German painter. From 1912 to 1915 he studied with Emil Orlik at the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin. From 1915 he was a soldier, but was imprisoned several times for his anti-militarist positions. After the war, he and Oskar Nerlinger founded the group Die Zeitgemassen (Zeitgemassen means "modern", "up to date") , whose secretary he was until 1933, in 1927 he became a member of the communist party. Between 1922 and 1925 he took part in several exhibitions in Herwarth Walden's Galerie "Der Sturm" and from 1926 to 1933 in the annual Great Berlin Art Exhibition. In 1933 he was banned from exhibiting, having been labeled "degenerate artist". After the war, he lived in the GDR and died in East Berlin.
