UP FOR SALE:
VINTAGE MAYNARD MITEE EGG BEATER ~Vintage Maynard Mitee Egg Beater, Model No. 49, with red plastic handle and knob hails from the mid-1900's. It features Stainless Steel blades, nylon gears, and a hefty metal mechanism. The beater weighs ? 11-1/2 oz. and is about 10" long. Made in the USA. The Maynard Company from Glendale, California, became part of the ECKO group in the 1950's. The wheel reads: Made in USA, this particular beater was made shortly after EKCO took over the Maynard Company. Some of the blades are marked STAINLESS STEEL In good vintage condition
Although the first hand-operated egg beaters have been around since the mid-1800s, it was not until many years later that they morphed into this more recognizable design. The Maynard Manufacturing Company, based in Glendale, California, began producing whisks such as these in the 1950s based on a 1923 patent. This appliance includes pastel white plastic handles and stainless-steel whisks. Before the prevalence of electric kitchen tools, a manual egg-beater like this was a labor-saving kitchen appliance.
