Item description
USS Cowpens (CG-63) Official 8x10 B W Glossy Publicity Photograph. This unmarked photograph came from a group of publicity photos formerly belonging to Bath Iron Works, in Bath, Maine. Because it came in a group lot of 24 different and similar views of the ship (all listed separately), it is most likely many of them have remained unpublished and unreleased. We purchased them at an outdoor flea market just a few miles from the Maine shipyard. Condition: This is an original photograph, not a copy or reproduction. It is in near mint condition. Comments: USS Cowpens (CG-63) is a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser in service with the United States Navy. The ship is named after the Battle of Cowpens, a major American victory near Cowpens, South Carolina, in the American Revolution. She was built at the Bath Iron Works in Maine. Cowpens is stationed at Naval Base San Diego. Cowpens' keel was laid December 23, 1987, at Bath Iron Works; she was launched March 11, 1989, and sponsored by Lucy Mustin, wife of Vice Admiral Henry C. Mustin. Cowpens was commissioned March 9, 1991 in Charleston, South Carolina.
