Coleus, Black Dragon (Plectranthus scutellarioides) - 20 Seeds
• Heirloom
• Non-GMO
• American Grown Seeds
• Annual
• USDA Zone: 4-11
Embark on a visual journey with the captivating Coleus 'Black Dragon'. Its deep, velvety leaves boasting a rich, near-black hue create an awe-inspiring contrast in gardens or containers. Ideal as a houseplant or ornamental garden feature, this mesmerizing variety is sure to turn heads and spark conversations. Its ease of care and unique appearance make it a must-have for both novice and seasoned gardeners. Plectranthus scutellarioides is also synonymous with Solenostemon scutellarioides (its former taxonomical name) and is in fact a member of the coleus genus.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Coleus grows well in partial to full shade and requires no stratification. Start the seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date at a depth of 1/8 inch in well-draining soil. Transplant the seedlings outdoors when they reach a height of 2-3 inches, spacing them 12-18 inches apart, with 18-24 inches between rows. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the germination period, which typically takes 10-14 days.
