Item description
? For sale: One well-rooted False Indigo Bush (Amorpha fruticosa) plant, 1-2 years old, 18-22 inches tall. If the plant outgrows the shipping box during summer, it will be pruned for safe transport. This hardy shrub is known for its ability to thrive in moist areas along streams, rocky banks, and low wet woods. It produces dense clusters of purple, tube-shaped flowers that attract bees and butterflies, while its seeds provide food for quail and other wildlife.
? Also called River-locust and Indigobush, this shrub can reach up to 12 feet in height. It has an extensive root system, making it excellent for erosion control and windbreaks. Historically, early settlers used it as a substitute for true indigo, and it contains amorpha, a natural insect repellent. It is easy to grow and highly adaptable, tolerating various soil conditions.
? During the dormant season (November–April), the plant will be sent bare root with roots wrapped in wet media. From March through October, it will be sent in a plastic container with soil. The plant may be trimmed to fit the shipping box. It is recommended to plant it promptly upon arrival to ensure healthy establishment in its new location.
? Orders are typically sent at the beginning of the week (Monday or Tuesday) to ensure the best arrival conditions. A tracking number will be provided for all shipments within the USA. This plant cannot be sent to Idaho, Oregon, or Washington due to Japanese Beetle Quarantine regulations. Please verify your state’s plant entry laws before ordering.
? Your order will arrive in good condition. If any issues occur during transit, contact us the same day with a detailed description and photos so we can assist you.
