Item description
Rare 2 Tea Cups SMF Schramberg Germany Eva Zeisel Gobelin 2 Almost 100 year old
This antique is in excellent condition. Tea cups are 3.5 Diameter. 1 Cup has a flea bite along the rim, looks like in the paint or glaze. Cup number 2 has a flea bite and possibly a nicely repaired handle. I cant tell for sure. A few flea bites on the bottom of the plates. See pics.
This is an Eva Zeisel for Schramberg SMF of Germany, Geometric Gobelin 2 Style Covered Sugar, Circa
1928-1930. Eva Zeisel worked for Schramberg SMF Pottery from 1928 to 1930 in the
Black Forest region of Germany. She was way ahead of her time with her shapes
and patterns and was known for her geometric patterns and tea sets using the
Bauhaus Art Deco Design. She has quite a history in ceramics in Europe and
later the United States and designed for Hall China Company, Red Wing Pottery,
Rosenthal China and Castelton China to name a few. Her works are in the
Metropolitan Museum and many other noted museums in the U.S. and Europe. She
died in 2011 at the age of 106! The piece(s) offered here is in her Gobelin 2 style
with a geometric and floral design. The hand painted design is very Eva Zeisel it is marked on the base with the SMF early logo.
