Item description
1,500 Drama Queen AKA Jimi's Flag Poppy Seeds - P. Somniferum - Stunning Reds!
? Planting Instructions :
1. Site Preparation:
Choose a full sun location (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily).
Soil should be light, well-draining, and slightly sandy.
Avoid soggy or compacted soil.
2. When to Sow:
Sow seeds in early spring, as soon as the soil is workable.
In warmer climates, you can sow in late fall for spring blooms.
3. Sowing Seeds:
Poppy seeds are tiny and need light to germinate.
Scatter seeds directly on the soil surface and press them down gently—do not cover with soil.
4. Watering:
Keep the soil lightly moist during germination (approx. 7–14 days).
Once seedlings establish, water sparingly—do not overwater.
5. Thinning:
When seedlings are about 2–3 inches (5–7 cm) tall, thin to 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) apart to allow room for growth and airflow.
6. Maintenance:
Minimal fertilizing is needed—too rich soil can reduce flowering.
Remove weeds by hand to avoid competition.
? Extra Tips:
Blooms appear about 75–90 days after sowing.
Attracts bees and pollinators.
Seed pods that form after flowering are ornamental and can be left for reseeding or harvested.
