50s Butterscotch Tested BAKELITE Carved and 44 similar items

These were acquired as a set although the carved Bakelite pear pin is probably from the 40s, and the triangular earrings are from the 50s art moderne movement. Nicely shaped – rounded, a defined stem and dimpled base. Fruit was a common subject matter for jewelry during the Bakelite Era, like the pear examples shown on pages 88-89 of “Plastic Jewelry” by Nancy Schiffer, 1987. The pin is 2” x 1 ”; highly polished; the pin mechanism is secure – tested as genuine Bakelite.
