Vintage Owl Bird Brooch Pin Enamel Blue Glass Jelly Belly Figural Prong Set Eyes Speckled Tummy Cabochon Gold Tone Metal Brass Old “C” Clasp Pin Back Black Gold Enamel Accents Enameled Hand Painted This is an adorable little Horned Owl brooch or pin. The brooch has an oval, blue glass cabochon belly. He also has round blue glass prong set eyes. The blue has a slight green tint to it. It was hand crafted and hand painted with an antiqued look, of mottled gold, black and blue (or else it has worn off over the years, but I think it was done intentionally). You can see the wing edges next to the cabochon have a slightly uneven edging, obviously a hand made piece. When you see the owl without magnification you get the full effect of the way it was enameled and it is quite striking. I don't know what the type of metal is, it appears to be brass or a gold tone. The owl measures approximately 1 inches tall and of an inch wide. It has the old style “C” clasp for the pin back. This finely crafted brooch is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. The pin hinge is slightly bent to one side (see photo), but it works fine once it is clasped. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe. This is an unusual and beautiful brooch and is sure to be a conversation piece. It would be stunning with a little black dress for a special occasion, or with your favorite pair of jeans.
