Here is a CLASSIC, VINTAGE FISHER PRICE PICK UP 'N PEEK #520 THE THREE LITTLE PIGS PUZZLE for your inspection. This puzzle consists of 12 pieces, six of which are equipped with a yellow peg. The pegs are designed to help little fingers easily remove the pieces from the puzzle. Manufactured between 1979-84, this puzzle helps develop a child's emergent literacy and story telling skills. The puzzle reinforces early literacy conventions by having the child scan the pictures from left to right---exactly the way he/she will be asked to decipher print in school. Each puzzle piece, when removed, features a scene from the classic fairy tale. The lithos are cleverly arranged so that the child can correctly retell the story in its proper sequence. As in the story, the puzzle depicts the pigs success in thwarting the wolf's attempts to capture them and concludes with the wolf falling into the stew pot. This puzzle consists of both single and interlocking pieces and is designed for 2-5 year old children. In my opinion, this puzzle is in EXC++-NEAR MINT condition. The only "flaws" I can ascertain are: 1. Some minor edge wear on a few of the pieces; 2. Several miniscule "chips"(e.g. next to the right ear of the pig on the far left hand side of the puzzle and on the left hand edge of the pile of sticks; on either side of the middle pig's extended leg; next to the bottom of the brick wall and on the bottom right side of the ladder) . These are barely visible and do not afford any danger to a child playing with the puzzle. Neither do they detract from the overall appearance and function of this puzzle; and 3. A minor scratch on the middle pig's hat and forehead. The interior lithos are GORGEOUS! On close examination, I can only detect one tiny rub. All of the lithos are free of any stains, punctures, or marks etc. They have retained their vivid colorations and whimsical graphics. This puzzle is stamped "Made in Holland for Fisher Price Toys ....." by The Quaker Oats Co. This is a FANTASTIC puzzle for early language development, eye/hand coordination, and extending a child's attention span. This solid wood puzzle exemplifies Fisher Price's reputation for durable, classic toys. The puzzle weighs 1 lb., 4 oz. UNWRAPPED and my location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
