Item description
For your consideration this is a GREAT ANTIQUE:
Collectors Plate, Antique MAJOLICA Plate/Platter "Lily of the Valley"
Maker: Villeroy-Boch-Schramburg #1132 over 2 (VBS with the Pine tree logo)
This is a beautiful and very RARE Antique Collectors plate/platter and is "12 inches in diameter" and has the "Lily of the Valley" Design. It is in excellent, to like new condition, even for it's age. There are no cracks, chips or crazing and the design is as nice looking as it was when made. No wear at all no repair marks. On the back it has who made it: "VBS with the Pine Tree Logo" and impressed with the numbers "1132 over 2" on the back. It has stilt marks on the back which come from the firing process. There is piercing on the backside of the plate so a ribbon or string can be slipped thru it and it can become a hanging plate.
I have yet to find another like it in this size. There are a lot of smaller versions, but none of this size. The 12 inch in diameter size makes it too large for a dinner plate (unless maybe if you were feeding a giant...), which is why I feel it is more on the round platter size.
On doing some research on the item, this Lily of the Valley plate was made in the last quarter of the 19th century which would make it between the years 1875-1900, which makes it over 112 years old if it was made in 1900. It was made by Villeroy, Bock and Schramburg from Germany. It's coloring is MOCHA and has the pierced edge detailing. The center front has green leaves made into a flower design and the outside of that are the Lily of the Valley Flowers.
Please see the picture for a more accurate look feel free to ask questions. I try to explain the best as I can. Shipping/handling cost is via USPS with delivery confirmation Insurance. (USA Funds Only). No fair or reasonable offer refused.
