Vintage original 27x41 in. US one-sheet poster from the classic 1970's nuclear power plant-themed drama, THE CHINA SYNDROME, released in 1979 by Columbia Pictures and directed by James Bridges. While doing a series of reports on alternative energy sources, an opportunistic reporter Kimberly Wells (Jane Fonda) witnesses an accident at a nuclear power plant. Wells is determined to publicize the incident but soon finds herself entangled in a sinister conspiracy to keep the full impact of the incident a secret. The cast includes Jack Lemmon and Michael Douglas, among others. Unrestored and folded as originally issued, this vintage original one-sheet is in very fine condition with two small creases on the bottom right corner. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws. When the film was first released on March 16, 1979, nuclear power executives soon lambasted the picture as being "sheer fiction" and a "character assassination of an entire industry." Then, twelve days after its launch, the Three Mile Island nuclear accident occurred near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
