Item description
Box has been cut and mounted in a white, hard plastic clamshell display case. The case has a small chip out of the back center edge on the right side. Not a hole, just a small chip off the edge.
Cassette is nice and clean with a couple of upc stickers on the tape gate. Pre-viewed for quality and the first few trailers are a litle jittery, feature itself plays great. All formats are Out Of Print on this title.
Circa 1930-40s story is told in flashbacks about mobster brothers from their formative years through their quest for justice after the youngest is murdered. Multi-dimensional and complex characters with interesting quirks.
Occasionally meanders, and the flashbacks are confusing, but there's atmosphere to spare, and director Abel Ferrara vividly depicts a macho world in which one must be unfeeling and conquer his fears in order to obtain "manhood." He also deals with his familiar themes of God and religion in a world of brutality. A shocking and twisted ending caps it all off.
