Mom is a comedy showcasing the complicated relationships of three generations of mothers, while also focusing on Christy's struggles to handle family, work, and relationships. Christy, a recovering alcoholic, is adjusting to life with her pregnant teenage daughter Violet and young son, Roscoe. Adding to the melodrama is Christy's relationship with her own mother, Bonnie,as they are newly reconciled.
