Item description

Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the popular 1940's boxing-themed drama, CITY FOR CONQUEST, released in 1940 by Warner Bros. and directed by Anatole Litvak. Danny (James Cagney)is a content truck driver, but his girl Peggy (Ann Sheridan) shows potential as a dancer and hopes he too can show ambition. Danny acquiesces and pursues boxing to please her, but the two begin to spend more time working than time together. The image features an interior medium shot depicting boxer Danny Kenny (James Cagney) talking to a reporter while "Mutt" (Frank McHugh) wraps his hand with tape. Printed for the film's original 1940 US theatrical release, this vintage original photograph is in very good+ condition with one set of staple holes in the top corners; corner creases including into the corners of the image area at the top; a small chip on the bottom left corner; a 3 in. long scratch in the very bottom right of the background area; and a few scattered unobtrusive creases in the image area. The image quality is razor-sharp with fine detail and great contrast.
