Some 56,378 Scouts and leaders attended the Fifth National Jamboree at Colorado Springs, Colo., July 22-28. Scouts took part in a nationwide Get-Out-the-Vote campaign. The U.S. Post Office Department issued a Boy Scout commemorative stamp in February.
