Wonderful vintage 1950's Iroquois China restaurant ware divided 10" dinner plate set! Made in the late 1950's early 1960's in Syracuse, NY, these charmers have fun triple green stripe pattern on white ironstone! Hard to find this many plates still together, these beauties are weighted (at almost 11 lbs combined) sturdy and ready to bring the glam to
any retro inspired kitchen! Will mix and match with so many mid century dishes
and serving pieces! Perfect addition to any modern home or Iroquois collection!
Iroquois China Company was founded in 1905 in Solvay, New York, located on the western border of Syracuse the southern shores of Onondaga Lake.
It operated in Syracuse until closing. Although some references
indicate that the company closed in 1969, certain designs (e.g.,
"Informal", "Museum White") were advertised and sold until the early-mid
1970s.
Russel Wright and Ben Seibel were among the main mid-century
modernist designers at Iroquois. Wright introduced Casual around 1950,
and Seibel designed a line called Impromptu that stayed in the line for the rest of the company's history.
Plates are in wonderful condition! No
chips or dings! The usual pre-loved light surface utensil scuff wear, a few marks/dots under glaze, a glaze pop or two (during firing process) and some rust like marks on raised divided sections from years of adding flair to Betty's country fried steak dinners, but nothing that distracts from this gem of diner history! Please see enlarged pics for best description and
details.
