Item description

The JB Hirsch story begins in 1907 with the New York Art Bronze Works in Manhattan’s lower east side. The founder of the company, Romanian metalsmith, Joseph B. Hirsch, began importing pieces directly from French foundries. Around that period, foundries with close ties to the talented artists and sculptors of the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, began producing their now famous works in “French Bronze.” Some of the finest talent throughout Europe trained at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, exhibiting their works at the Salon de Artistesand other great Salons in Paris, the center of the art world. This unique chest had been found on estate sale. Please see pictures for more detail and ask me if you would like to see more. The style of the chest is French Renaissance. Chest is painted in off white color, paint has been scratched off in some spots. On a back of the chest there are JBH initials. Chest lined up with wooden planks inside and bottom covered and painted with wooden plank. Plank on a botom suppose to be held by screws but seems like corners are broken off and plank either glued or paint holds it in place. Chest has a gorgeous marble lid. Hinges do not have posts so I removed lid to take detailed pictures. Marble has '937 ITALI' scratched on a back of it. Measures about : 7" x 4.5" x 5" PHOTO NOTE: It is possible for items to appear slightly different in shade or color on different computer monitors. If you are unsure about a color or tone, please ASK. Please read information below: The items listed on my sales are not new unless mentioned otherwise. There are mostly coming from estate sales.
