Item description

Boldt Castle 1000 Islands, New York Keychain, vintage. 2-1/4" total length. 1" medallion. George Boldt, general manager of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City and manager of the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia enjoyed an earlier frame cottage with his family on Hart Island ( the island's original name) which they greatly expanded. In 1900 George Boldt launched an ambitious structure, one of the largest private homes in the United States as a present to his wife. The construction of Boldt Castle ceased abruptly in early 1904 after the death of Boldt's wife, Louise Kehrer Boldt. George Boldt passed in 1916. The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority acquired Heart Island for $1 under the agreement that all revnuews from the castle operation would be applied to its restoration to the state it was when construction was halted. Used keychain in good condition and shows signs of age at backside. Shipping is $4.95 to anywhere in the USA. International shipping rates apply. Save more when shipping multiple items.
