This is the 2nd volume of a trilogy of Holmes' adventures, all paginated consecutively, so this book is numbered from page 447 through page 741. This edition is different from most in that it consists of facsimiles from the Strand Magazine, which first published the stories from 1901 through 1904. It retains the double columns and all the original illustrations by Sidney Paget, who used his brother as the model for Holmes. This is an inexpensive copy of a nice edition of some of the best Holmes stories.
