Item description

This is a listing for one 454g (1 lb)bar of Portuguese yellow beeswax. DrApis' raw beeswax is unfiltered and chemical free. Produced and extracted using exclusively traditional methods, it preserves all the natural elements produced by bees. # What is beeswax? Secreted by worker bees and used to build comb cells, beeswax is a valuable resource. Worker bees consume an estimated 8 pounds of honey for each pound of wax they produce. # What can I do with brown beeswax? Beeswax is an all natural and eco-friendly substitute for petroleum-based waxes. Brown beeswax in particular is a hard wax that stays in hives for long periods. Besides nectar it also accumulates some pollen oils and propolis residues. This gives it an earthy/woody scent with honey nuances. It is good for: - candle-making; - sculpture; - soap-making; - didgeridoo mouthpieces; - warm water surf wax (19-24 C / 65-75 F). If you are looking for a softer wax take a look at DrApis Yellow Beeswax. # Colour and scent As any other natural product, beeswax's properties change with every new harvest. However, these changes are less pronounced in wax than in other bees' products such as honey. You can expect a consistent wax throughout the season, suitable for all above listed applications, with only tiny differences in colour and scent. # How Portuguese bees make it DrApis' beeswax is made in Alentejo (Southern Portugal) by the local subspecie of honey bees, Apis mellifera iberiensis. These bees work during Spring and Summer, gathering nectar from the annual wildflowers that sprout in Alentejo's dehesa, under cork oaks (Quercus suber) and holm oaks (Quercus ilex). # Storage Store at room temperature away from sunlight or any heat source. # Product specifications Net weight 454g (1 lb) # Shipping Items will be shipped through expedited mail with tracking. Expected delivery times are: - Europe: 3 business days. - Rest of the World*: 5 business days. * Delivery may take 15 business days or longer in countries with tight or lengthy customs' inspections.
